A collection of poetry and photographs created by young authors in responce to A Raisin in the Sun.  Young artists worked with photographer Maiwenn Raoult to uncover corners and hidden gems of their own neighborhood with the goal to capture the essence of their New Orleans in an authentic way. Inspired by their photographs, they then wrote courageous testimonials, poetic narratives, and fictitious tales--all centered in the streets of the 9th ward.

From pizza and ice cream to wrestling and fast cars, the second graders at Sylvanie Williams College Prep have used their "poets' eyes" to look at both ordinary and extraordinary things in new and interesting ways. Their poetry packs a big punch in a small package, and will leave you excited, intrigued, and hungry for more poems... and probably a snack too.
